Facebook N00b - Day 1

"Welcome to Facebook" There was something about hearing those words that was so surreal!  I made it! I am finally here. I got the job. I'm not dreaming.  All these thoughts were going through my head this morning as I was sitting in my pre-orientation class.  Looking at the wall when I first walked in I immediately knew that nothing in any video or news article could accurately describe what it feels like to actually be sitting in that seat.

Now, this is not the first time I have been in this building. I actually worked here about 10 years ago when this was the Sun Microsystems campus.  While the building layout didn't really change much, that was the only thing that remained the same. 

The concrete pathways have been replaced with bike lanes.  It is so much more colorful and vibrant.  There are so many textures - from the windows, with striped awnings, to the doors that vary in size and type - my favorite being the garage doors.  Oh and there is music!  Not elevator music either.  Coldplay, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters...

These are just a few of the things that make up this fun-filled campus.  I will focus on some of the cool services and perks they offer to help give you a little peek into what it is like to be here and I will share my experiences here as I learn more about this company and as my role here develops.
